Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn

Welcome to the Bohemia St. Neots Autumn blog

We thought it would be a nice idea to keep you (our lovely customers) up to date with what's been going on and what's coming up here at Bohemia.

So, with the change of seasons, we will be sending out a blog to keep you guys posted on all things Bohemia.

This edition will cover the summer just gone, the Autumn to come and of course probably our most important event ever....

Our opening!!

All of us here at Bohemia could not be more grateful for the amazing reception and encouragement we have received. Even before we fully opened the doors we were overwhelmed with positive encouragement from the truly lovely people of this town.

Having spent several months promoting our arrival on the farmers market with our sister company The Horsebox UK we had a really positive feeling about our choice of opening here in St. Neots. But nothing could prepare us for what was to come!

As I am sure most of you have seen, it's been probably the most hectic 4 months we have ever had and we've loved every minute of it. Fully booked from our first weekend it's been the same ever since and, as we stand, we are fully booked 3 weeks in advance.

We are the first to admit we haven't been perfect and it took us a few weeks to find our feet, but we really feel now like we can provide you with the great service and product you deserve. So thank you for your patience in this tough period.

So from all of us here at Bohemia a massive thank you for the welcome and here's to the future.

Looking back!

I think we can all agree it's been one of the best summers (in sunshine terms) we have seen for many years. We had some gloriously hot days leading into lovely balmy summer evenings with rainy days few and far between. Our little sun trap of a mews was in its element. It really was a lovely spot to relax with a glass of wine and a delicious bite to eat. We even had whole Tapas evenings where we migrated all of the tables outside - true Bohemia style alfresco dinning!

As a restaurant focused on fresh, seasonal and local produce we have been spoiled for choice with an abundance of wonderful ingredients to choose from.

Our lovely local greengrocer Hamiltons of St Neots has been, and continues to be, a constant source of inspiration. This makes creating our ever-changing specials boards a breeze with such a wide range of fantastic local produce at our fingertips.

Our favorite dish of the summer has to be our Huevos Rancheros. The moment this went up on the board it was a instant hit.

We combined roasted chorizo sausages fresh grilled tortillas, bravas-style butter beans, soft set sour cream, two fried eggs and, of course, our famous smashed avocado.

There really is nothing better than a plate of contrast. Hot, cold spicy and soothing all at the same time. Perfect!!

The heat, while lovely, was also a source of some frustration for us. Some of you may have noticed that due to a lack of proper air conditioning it was, at times, uncomfortably warm inside the restaurant. Rest assured we are fully aware and have plans afoot to tackle the problem in time for next year's summer season.

All in all it was a great summer that will linger long in the memory as one of the best we have ever had. Not only did we get some great weather but we also had an absolute blast. We got to open our very first restaurant and we have also made some great new friends in the process.

Welcoming Autumn

For some autumn is a negative thing as it signals the end of summer and also the beginning of the cold, wet weather. But for us it's quite the opposite... I love, digging out my favorite jumper, lighting up the fire and tucking into some really hearty grub.

It also brings us an array of lovely new produce to play with - pumpkins, cabbage, purple sprouting broccoli to name but a few.

With Autumn comes a wonderful range of new dishes. While our lovely Breakfast & Tapas menu packed with classic and bohemian treats will remain an ever present, you will see a real change in our specials board. Salads and lighter dishes will be replaced with wholesome soups, stews, roasted meats and vegetables. All perfect for warding off the cold wet weather. Our tapas specials have already seen the introduction of wild mushroom risotto and whole roast sea bream which was a real treat.

The onset of the colder weather and rain brings the challenge of how we can best continue to utilise our lovely outside space. So, after lots of careful thought and consideration, we have taken steps to ensure that those of you who enjoy sitting outside can still do so. We have installed two beautiful awnings to protect you from the rain and, following very shortly, there will also be heat lamps to ensure you stay nice and warm whilst enjoying your coffee.

In summary

In summary it's been a great start and we have loved every minute of it. It was a cracking summer and it looks like autumn is going to be just the same.

Thank you all for the support so far. This place is built around our wonderful customers and it wouldn't be what it is without you.

So, from all of us here at Bohemia, goodbye for now and we look forward to seeing you soon.
